Notes From the Criminal "Injustice" System New Book Further Exposes the Criminal Justice System

ROSENBERG, Texas - He strides down the long dimly lit hallway, moving in and out of the light, two guards on each side. They stop and one of the guards calls out. The metal makes a loud noise, the cage. opens and they shove him inside. The bars close with a clink, and he is contained, marked with an X, forever. Kevin Lofton is familiar with this scene. His new book, X'ed Out Part II (now available in stores) lets the dark secrets of the criminal justice out of its cage.

Through painstaking research and interviews, Lofton has again exposed the other side of the criminal "injustice" system. Lofton delivers the raw truth about how corrupt the system really is, the misconceptions of the system and the truth of prison life on the inside. Readers are placed in the front seat of a ride filled with bitter opposition, the loss of opportunity and overwhelming oppression.

"Like the scarlet letter that was emblazoned on Hester Prynne's breast, society has dealt Xs to many former wrongdoers," Lofton states. "Society has exercised the last power they feel they have-the power to hate."

From his position hailing "from the dark corners of a system society deems sufficient," Lofton addresses the problems that ex-convicts face when they reenter society. His goal is to attempt to help and improve the lives of people who have made mistakes and are now paying for them for the rest of their lives. X'ed Out Part II further illustrates the truth to the youth to keep them from getting into similar situations. Lofton also hopes to save thousands of innocents incarcerated some on death row.

Whether an inmate, politician, former offender, victim or just curious, X’ed Out Part II will provide information that will perplex the mind and open the eyes. Lofton will deliver the information that other writers, publishers and editors refuse to show, especially members of the criminal justice system.

Lofton is a former state parole officer in Texas. He graduated with a degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Working in various levels of the criminal justice system, Lofton was privy to much insight into the failure of the system to function properly. Currently, he is pursuing publishing texts that better help former offenders reintegrate into society and deter youth from getting in trouble. X'ed Out Part I, published in 1998, sold over 40,000 copies. He has also written a novel, Modern Day Slavery, that follows the life struggles of an "X'ed out individual" to be published in late 2003 or early 2004.
